Luke 5:31-32 “A Forgiving God!”
Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
Jesus isn’t surprised when you screw up. Jesus isn’t surprised when you forget Him in your daily dealings. Jesus isn’t surprised when you sin. Jesus isn’t even surprised when you take His name in vain. You see, the miracle of Jesus is each and every one of us is condemned to death; we’re mortal. If it weren’t for Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, we would all be eternally dead souls.
But, the good news is Jesus loves us despite our stupid, sinful ways. God is saddened when we sin and mess up, but our Father also loves us regardless and wants to help us have a happy, fulfilled and successful life. How do we connect to God’s good grace? By doing God’s will. By studying what God wants and trying to do it the best we can. The more you follow God’s will, the more God will bless your efforts. He knows you’re not perfect, but more importantly, He wants to know you’re at least trying and working to be better. God can work with clay that is trying to make a positive difference. Try it, you’ll see the results in every part of your life!
It’s not the healthy that need a doctor, and it’s not the perfect that need a forgiving God!
A personal message...
“These devotions were written to my four children, Christian, Mike, Allison and Alex. By the kids allowing these to be shared publicly, our hope is that the devotions will make a positive and eternal difference in the lives of other young people as they mature. Enjoy. Rick Isaacson”
