Proverbs 16:18

Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. What is cockiness? It’s really over confidence mixed with an overblown belief that you are better than someone else or that your opinions are better than the other person. Pride is not a bad thing, if it is focused on who deserves the credit. God blessed you to be smart, to be athletic or to be any other “thing” you happen to be! The Bible says in everything, glorify God!

A Friend Has A Friend's Back!

Luke 9:26

If anyone is ashamed of Me and My words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in His glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.

If you had a friend that completely disowned you when they were asked about your friendship in public, you’d likely be upset and offended, wouldn’t you? Well that’s exactly what Jesus is telling us in this passage. Jesus would love it if we were strong evangelists for Him, but we all have different gifts. Jesus would love it if you would share the positive difference God is making in your life. Jesus would love to see Godly fruit, good deeds done for others that can’t do it for themselves. Jesus would love it if we loved Him with every ounce of our being.

But more than anything, Jesus REQUIRES that we repent of our sins, every single one of them. Jesus REQUIRES that we believe He came to earth, died and was raised back to life, as a sacrifice to save us from our sins. These two things we know are required. This passage adds a third requirement. Regardless of the amount of peer pressure the world uses to embarrass and pressure you, you must acknowledge your pride and belief in Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

Just like that friend you proudly call your friend, Jesus is that Savior that wants you to show pride in your faith in God and belief in your Savior. Remember, that person who asks you about your faith may be the one who needs to hear how God has been a blessing in your life. That may be a chance to save one more soul! Even if their first reaction doesn’t seem good, you are sowing a seed. So be a proud Christian on earth and Jesus will be your proud advocate at the doors of heaven on your way to eternal life!

A personal message …

These devotions were written to my four children, Christian, Mike, Allison and Alex. By the kids allowing these to be shared publically, our hope is that the devotions will make a positive and eternal difference in the lives of other young people as they mature. Enjoy. Rick Isaacson
